FBTW April 2026 Updates & Up-Coming Events

Good morning!

We had a wonderful turnout on March 22 for the message that Cheryl and I gave at the Unitarian Universalists of New Braunfels on Surviving with Resilience and for the exhibit that followed! 62 people listened attentively and respectfully reviewed the exhibit, asking us wonderful questions. We’d like to thank Jan Estes for coordinating the day and feeding us tacos and coffee! We’d also like to thank our business sponsors: Hope Healing Group in Cibolo and their owner Eileen Fernandez; and Nourish Healing Collective in San Antonio and their owner Juniper Gwin.

This is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and we invite y’all to join us for a fundraiser and wonderful barbecue at The Purple Pig, our favorite veteran-and black-owned eatery in Schertz on Saturday, 4/25 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please stop by our resource table on the front porch to grab handouts and donate to support our sisters who are survivors of intersectional violence who acted under duress. There are also a variety of games to play. We are so grateful to owners Demetric and Cherise Herron for their repeated support of our work and the community!

Spring is when we see the return of hope in the blooming flowers. We want to plant our seeds so that we bloom all year for our community and sisters. Like many nonprofits and citizens, we are having a rough fiscal year and are grossly under resourced. Even so, we have shown our exhibit 3 times since July and facilitated one mass mailout of newsletters to our incarcerated and released survivors and allies. Our goal is to formalize the public education program and begin a pilot education program virtually for released survivor sisters in life skills, finances, and job hunting.

Can you please consider increasing your donation to an appropriate amount and/or beginning monthly donations of $26 or an appropriate amount? For those who prefer to pay by check, please send that to our PO Box below. For those who prefer an online donation, please donate here: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/fbtw.empower

Thank you all so much for your support of our work and of our incarcerated and released survivors!

In solidarity,

Cathy & FBTW
